Winvic is to start construction on a 450-flat build to rent scheme making up the first phase of the Sweet Street regeneration project in Leeds.

The project is getting underway after build to rent developer and operator PLATFORM_  signed off a £150m joint venture with Lloyds-backed equity investor – HGP – to deliver the initial build at the South Bank regeneration project to create 1.3m sq ft mixed-use space

Mark Jones, Managing Director for Multi-room, Winvic said the project marked its third collaboration with PLATFORM_.

“This development will play a key role in transforming the Leeds skyline, and we are proud to be part of it.”

The full scheme will consists of over 1,350 build to rent homes and 150,000 sq. ft of commercial space, representing over £500m of investment.

Scheduled to complete at the start of 2027, the previously vacant site will become a thriving mixed-use community.

The focal point of the scheme will be a new public square

Alongside the residential offering, the first phase of the Sweet Street scheme includes the refurbishment of historic pub – The Commercial Inn, and the creation of a 4,000 sq. ft convenience grocery store.
